AlbLavendel – Analysis of regional value chains and agronomic parameters for organically grown lavender in the Swabian Alb

The second phase of the AlbLavendel project involves the potential analysis for establishing regional value chains for lavender cultivation in Baden-Württemberg. The aim is to identify potential buyers and assess the cultivation potential for regionally grown lavender. In order to do this, expert interviews are being conducted with stakeholders in food and cosmetics manufacturing, floristry, and other sectors to evaluate marketing channels, quality requirements, and volume needs. Furthermore, the variety trials established in the first project phase are being continued. This involves recording agronomic parameters such as the onset of flowering, susceptibility to disease, and yield. Lavender oils are also being distilled and their quality assessed. Throughout the project, experts receive samples of the lavender varieties grown in the trials to evaluate their quality and suitability for various applications.
