Alb Lavender - Preliminary Trials for Lavender as a New Agricultural Crop, Focusing on Energy Use and Waste Material Utilization as Textile Fibers

This project aims to establish lavender cultivation in Baden-Württemberg, particularly in the Swabian Alb region. Part of the project involves selecting and testing the suitability of different lavender varieties for large-scale trials. The cultivated lavender will be used to produce essential oils and fiber composites (from residual materials) for the textile industry. To achieve these goals, alongside the primary focus on lavender cultivation, studies will also be conducted on energy-efficient distillation of raw materials into oils and assessing the suitability of flower heads for fiber processing.
